Obituary of Assimo Xarchos (nee Merziotis)

 

Peacefully surrounded by her loving sons on Monday, September 27th, at the age of 87. She is survived by her husband, Simos. A loving mother and grandmother, her warm presence will be missed by her sons: Gus and his son with Karen, George (Mackenzie), and Christos (Jacqueline) and their children Simon, Joseph, and Jacob. She is survived by her siblings Louis (late Matoula), Stavroula (late Nick), Tasia (late Peter), Rina (late Vasilios), Alexandra (late Themyo) and Vasiliki Merziotis. Predeceased by her siblings Aristos, Thanasis, Nick, James, John, Vasiliki, Elleni, and Panagiota, and leaves behind a large extended family, including many nieces and nephews. She is now reunited with her son George (1990), whom she loved dearly. Visitation will take place on Friday, October 1st, at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church (1315 Prince of Wales Dr) from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 Restrictions, the funeral will be by invitation only. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hellenic Community of Ottawa.
