Obituary of Peter Hernandez

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Peter Hernandez. He died peacefully on September 4, 2021, at the grand age of 100 years old. He passed away alongside the loving and compassionate staff at St. Patrick’s Long Term Care Home. Peter was the beloved husband of Sylvia for 73 years and father to Francesca (Gary Lewis), Ronald, Carlos and Raymond. He was predeceased by his son Peter and mother Calistra. Peter was a loving and devoted grandfather to Samantha (Jason) and Stefanie (Jonathan). He was the very proud great grandfather to Sebastian, Benjamin, Charlotte, Isla and Eva. Peter will also be deeply missed by many extended family members in Eastern Canada and in Trinidad. Peter immigrated to Canada from Trinidad in 1948 because he was recruited by the Government of Canada to work as a scientific glassblower at The Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. Peter was known for his kindness, jovial nature and magnetic personality which made him well liked by everyone he met. Peter always welcomed newcomers from the Caribbean into his home for a delicious meal and assisted them with their transition to life in Canada. Peter made tremendous contributions to his community and was always available to help family and friends in need. Peter will be deeply missed by many, but his legacy will continue to live on in our hearts and memories. A private ceremony will take place at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel on October 2nd at 10:30 a.m.
