I was deeply saddened to read of Stephen's passing. I recognized his warm smile as soon as I opened the paper. He cared deeply for his Matthew and Tyler and wanted the very best for them. This was reflected in each parent/teacher interview I had with him. His generosity was shown in his active involvement in school council at SJA. Stephen was a warm and generous colleague. He always had an open door and was willing to help however he could. Seeing him in the BC cafeteria in the mornings was always a good start to the day! He always had something fun to share and everyone wanted to say hi to him- he was a rock star! He was a great person and will be truly missed.

I remember Steve's attention to details, every time we made beer or wine, he would stop me from rushing ahead to make sure we read and followed all the instruction. We never had a bad batch of wine or beer thanks to Steve and Steve loved to talk about the smells and the spices and tannins in our wine or beer. He was a good friend that enjoy life and did everything the right way, anyone who has had his BBQ will knows what I'm talking about. Stephen was a good friend and colleague of mine for several years. He was always upbeat and happy and never had a bad thing to say about anybody. Stephen would call me the good doctor Baker when he greeted me, which was an inside joke of ours. Although we lost touch over the years I still considered him a good friend. I remember Stephen would work late into the evenings some days and would send e-mails after midnight. I would joke with him the next day and ask him to stop sending e-mails so late as I was trying to sleep. Stephen my friend, if there is such a thing as a better place I'm sure you are there already. My heartfelt condolences go out to Stephen's wife and 2 sons during this trying time. My thoughts are with all of you.
