I always enjoyed working for Peter at the Treasury Board Secretariat, and not least his interesting chats at break times. My deepest sympathy goes to Monika, their son and his wife. Katherine McTavish

I knew Peter professionally over the years in the Public Service, and I used to enjoy our conversations on a wide range of topics. Many have said this of Peter in these notes of condolence, and he certainly was an interesting person to work with and to enjoy his company and share a few laughs at the foibles of government! And my deepest sympathies go out to Monika and the family on their loss.

Colin and I (Aurianne) only met Peter recently as our daughter married Marc in 2019. Our memory is of a man who had experienced life’s joys and suffering . He generously photographed Elena and Marc’s wedding celebrations then developed a series of pictures in time for us to take with us back to Australia ; a special memory
We enjoyed his friendship and great knowledge from a life well lived. Deepest sympathy to Monika who stood by his side and nursed him at home until his passing
Also to all of Peters family and friends whom we did not have the opportunity to meet- our condolences.

Peter is a dear friend who will be greatly missed. He was a lot of fun to be with, a good conversationalist whose ideas and opinions were worth noting. He was also a good cook, whose love of food and wine was a passion he shared with his friends. We will treasure all the happy memories of our times together, both at our Hambly Lake cottage and their home in Kanata.

It is with deep sadness that we learned of Peter’s passing. He was such a gentle and kind sole who always took time to chat with us as neighbours. His (and Monika’s) love of travel was infectious and we enjoyed hearing about their travels, and enjoying a glass of wine in our yards. Our thoughts and prayers are with Monika, Marc and the family as you grieve Peter’s loss. Kathy & Les.

Ever since university, Peter and I were best friends. This endured over more than 40 years. We graduated at the same time after years of hard work. He was like a brother I did not have. We were there for each other in good times and bad. Peter and Monica saw the kids grow up from birth to adulthood. Maribel and my children grew to know and admire him over the many years. My mother always was so happy to see him at family gatherings. He was a generous, empathetic friend, well-liked by so many. I will also never forget Peter’s acute sense of humour and his inquisitive, sharp mind. If ever you did not have an opinion on something, you could count on Peter giving you one! His mind was keen and bright to the bitter end. He accepted his future, but the inevitable was terribly difficult for me. Peter touched and enriched our lives in many ways. It is his legacy to us all. He leaves us with wonderful memories but he will be sorely missed. Deepest condolences to Monica, Marc and the Adamaitis family on my behalf, spouse Maribel, children France and Chantale and partners Anys and Taras.
