I am saddened to hear about your loss. Bruce was thoughtful and generous, and his devotion to his family was admirable.
I will cherish the memories I have of Bruce. I remember meeting Bruce for the first time at Vignette, and through our professional journeys, we stayed in touch. I was lucky to work on his team a couple of years ago. During that time, I learned a lot from Bruce that has helped me today.
As so many others mentioned, Bruce was private, and when he’d share stories of his family, it was a joy. I often enjoyed his stories of his family and especially the story of the absolute best burger his wife cooked (and how much he missed it). I admired his love for his daughter Kate (he was so proud of you); their relationship reminded me of my relationship with my dad. I would often share stories of the teenage years with my son, and Bruce would reminisce of his sons sharing stories and providing advice in those stories on raising a teenage boy.
Bruce was a great speaker and could draw a crowd in; he also had an inner comedian. His jokes made everyone laugh. I remember sitting in his office discussing strategy, and out of nowhere, he says a word I’ve never heard. I stopped him for the definition. We laughed, and then he went on to tell me that he has a love for literature, and he’d hope to mentor at his alma mater. After that meeting, I immediately signed up for "Word of the Day." Bruce had that effect on people to be the best versions of themselves.
Bruce is a great friend who will be long remembered, not only as a friend but as a leader and mentor. Bruce, your counsel, patience, and willingness to help and guide will be cherished for all the years to come. Fly high, my friend.
“You carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you.”

Our sincere heartfelt condolences from Karen, Gary, and Cole Kofnovec to the Milne family. We have the fondest memories of Bruce in Cole's trek to Eagle Scout. He was a wonderful mentor to Cole (as he was to all the young men) and was always Cole's favorite scout leader. In Cole's words "Mr. Milne is by far the coolest scout leader". Bruce was such a great family man, very successful businessman, and one of the nicest guys we've ever known. RIP Bruce.

Bruce was one of the posse of boys who hung out at our house throughout high school and maintained a life-long brotherhood. Ron and I greatly enjoyed his wit, intelligence and engaging personality, all evidenced in a graduation video he made which I treasure to this day.
From an early age Bruce was nicely confident in himself. The world he left so terribly soon was his oyster. He will remain in the cherished memories of his large group of friends, and their parents.

While going through pictures for the video memorial, I was overwhelmed buy the sheer number of shared events, activities and escapes we had. I wish there were more pictures than I found. SO many times I’ve heard from friends and my own children that they were sad when a particular phase in life is over like high school or something else after which most folks dissipate, but my advice is to enjoy as much time with your friends during each phase as you can and create memories which will last forever. We were fortunate enough to enjoy a nearly 20 year phase of having the Milnes as neighbors, friends and participants in many of these types of memories which we will always cherish. We will miss Bruce greatly and his participation in more of those.
Safe travels,
John Ratliff

The Brunn family is so sad to hear this news. The words of your obituary are lovely and true. An elegant man who was fully engaged in life, his career, and the rearing of his children. A lovely and strong family who valued togetherness with extended family. Although I haven’t seen Bruce or his family in years, I admired all that he did and appreciated his commitment to the Boy Scouts & his love of hockey (having grown up in MN) as well as Angie’s dedication and enthusiastic support of all our children’s endeavors. You’ve touched so many lives in so many ways. Though this may seem like a platitude, please know that Bruce helped create the childhood I always dreamed of giving my children. I pray that God’s mercy and the love of friends and family eases your grief.

I'm heartbroken for the entire Milne clan. Bruce was a friend since university and had a precocious streak as well as an incredible knack for fostering mentorships as was evidenced by his annual gatherings at his cottage where we remarkably didn't burn down the Rideau Lakes.

I will be forever grateful for the memories I have shared with Mr. Milne and his family. From tubing on the lake, to countless scouting events, to hiking Philmont, to swimming at the cabana, and to riding in the jeep with all doors off and wind a-blowing.
He was an amazing mentor and leader to all of us growing up, teaching us when we asked and laying down the law when we needed it. I will never forget these lessons and I know many others that would say the same.
With love and the deepest respect,

I'm at a loss for words but what I can say is that Bruce was my mentor and friend. We shared a love of our respective lake cabins in the woods (mine in northern MN which he claimed was close enough to Canada to be acceptable.) I met Bruce eight years ago and had the pleasure of working for him at two different companies. Like so many others who've commented here, he had a major impact on the course of my career. I'm going to miss having him as a touchstone when I needed input on a challenging situation. He was smart (one of the smartest people I've ever met), insightful, sometimes tough, analytical and level-headed. When I couldn't see an answer clearly, I knew I could get the straight goods from him, no sugar coating. But he also had a big heart and a real interest in other peoples' lives. And man, did he love his family. We may not have known all of them personally, but we felt like we did from the stories he told. From his pride at the kids playing Taps at sunset at the lake to telling us his brother was always the "handsome one" in the family to Angie's experience as "cookie mom" for the Kate's Girl Scout troop (he told me about this one because I was the sucker who signed up for the same role for my daughter without knowing what I was getting into), it was clear he loved big and deep for his people. He was intensely private, but it was great to get those glimpses into his softer side. I'll miss your advice and your friendship, Bruce. Words don't do justice to the one-of-a-kind person you were. We are all better for knowing you. I hope you are up there playing guitar and boating on the never-ending lake in the sky.

With deepest sympathy to Milne family. I had pleasure of knowing Bruce via work and from first moment I saw him on stage presenting my thoughts were what a class act he was. Bruce visited the UK a number of times, it was always our pleasure to host him - I remember once being in a pub for lunch and noticing how polite he was to the staff and I think that was Bruce all over in he could engage with everyone and anyone regardless of level or background which was and is a true quality. I also remember Bruce would proudly wear a poppy every November and have huge proudness in explaining to people why - it was of course obvious to us but really re-enforced that connection we had with him. Bruce was a great leader and mentor - there are things Bruce taught me I'll use for the rest of my career, a true gentleman. Thank you Bruce for a lasting legacy, rest in peace. Tony Stimson, UK.

My deepest condolences to Bruce's family and friends. He made his mark on this earth but had to leave us all way too soon.
I was fortunate enough to have met Bruce and to have worked with him and traveled with him on business trips over the last five years. When I first met Bruce in that conference room in Louisville, Colorado my initial reaction was” geez, this guy is a little full of himself, just acquired our company and already has a grand plan for all of us, but he does seem like a sharp guy.” What I learned over the years was that my initial perception of “full-of-himself” was really confidence and a belief in himself and the cause, having a vision and more importantly the skill to communicate it to others, and the innate ability to lead others.
Bruce had a way with words and telling stories, both business and personal, like know one else I have ever met in my life. He and I had a running schtick where when he would use a word in a presentation or meeting or email, I would call it out and make a remark about the word, or where did it come from or only Bruce could pull a word like that off the top of his head and then he would have a funny comeback. I will always remember a business trip we took to Barcelona where we walked about La Rambla street with Bruce telling stories and then we stopped and had dinner and he told some more and asked about my life and my family and my experiences. It was such a good memory and a point in time where I got to know him a bit better. I also loved his sense of humor and his willingness to put himself out there and contribute to the fun and festivities. (See photo from a company Christmas Party).
Bruce was a private guy, but it was so clear he was proud of his family, loved family, valued family and proud of what his kids were doing with their lives.
Bruce got us to think big, think outside our normal approach to things, and as someone else said “make ourselves look ten times bigger than we are.”
We miss you Bruce, but trust that you made a big impact on us all and made the world a better and more fun place!

Angie, Jake, Will and Kate:
Please accept our most heartfelt condolences for your loss with the passing of Bruce. Bruce was a dynamic leader and fantastic role model. He was a mentor for Joe in Joe’s path through the Boy Scouts. As a father I always admired Bruce for his commitment to, love for and involvement in his family. Jerri looked at Bruce as a man that both Joe and I could learn from, and she was right. Joe and I have incredibly fond memories of our trek at Philmont in June of 2015 where Bruce was the adult leader (and Jake was the Boy Scout leader!). Hiking with Bruce and watching Jake and Will and Joe hike their way through Itinerary 29 is one of the fondest memories of my Boy Scout experience. Bruce made much of that possible.
Few men are willing to take on leadership roles in every facet of their lives. Few men can combine intellect, drive, creativity, love, passion and humor all into one life. Bruce was one of those rare men. With deepest sympathies,

My deepest condolences to Bruce's family and friends. What a tragic loss way too soon.
I was lucky enough to work with Bruce for the last five years. I was always so impressed with his intellect, vision, and work ethic, but that's not what I'll remember most. We shared a love for our families and enjoyed many heartwarming conversations about children, life, priorities, etc. Oh how he loved his children. He was so proud of them, and on a light note, was thrilled that Kate had finally fulfilled his dream of one of his children working at the lock! His thoughtfulness extended beyond his own family -- as an intern at Pivot3, my daughter helped organize sales kickoff several years ago. He was pleased with her work, and as a thank you, he offered her a trip to corporate headquarters in Austin. That trip meant so much to both of us. I hope he knew how much I appreciated him.
Rest in peace, Bruce. We will think of you often and continue to draw from all the things you taught us.

What a profound loss. My deep condolences to the Milne family, and friends.
I just referenced Bruce only a few days ago in a meeting- it was about bringing people along with you by creating a shared vision- one of his many wise mantras that once brought us together and inspired us to be better. Sometimes you never really know how much you've learned from someone until you finally see things through their perspective, however small or large the aperture.
I’ll always look back on those startup years fondly- arguably the best time I’ve had in my professional career to date. Bruce was a leader, a word guy, a man of the world, and at the heart of it, just a good human being. He will be missed.
So long, Bruce. Travel well.

That rare individual who combined a pursuit of competitive excellence with a grounded yet devilish sense of humour. Every time we'd have a chance to hang out I would be struck by his raw intellect and command of the international high tech market. That is, in between the many full belly laughs we would share. A renaissance man with a deep sense of honour and integrity, he made tough times bearable and fun times awesome. I miss him deeply, as i would a brother.
