Obituary of Murray Brandt-Bull
After a year and a half of multiple medical conditions and having fought a good fight, never complaining and with his usual strength and tenacity Murray bid us a final fond farewell. He will be missed by his wife Rebekah of forty-four years, his sister Heather, niece Justine, great niece Cadi Bryn, along with his brother-in-law Richard, sister-in-law Liz and nieces Kiara and Ginette, as well as relatives and friends living here and overseas.
A complex individual with a sense of humour and sharpness of wit not always understood by others. He was seldom without a book or two and often penned short stories and limericks and had an amazing ability to solve cryptic crosswords with ease and speed which he continued to do until recently. As a young boy he spent holidays with his grandmother who lived on the coast where he learned to sail developing a love of the ocean and so grew his passion for boats and fishing which allowed him as an adult to spend countless hours on the water alone or with his buddies hoping he would have the 'biggest' catch of the day. As a teen with a good sense of balance, no fear of small spaces and with a trust in his friends he took up spelunking where they explored the Mendip caves. An avid photographer always armed with a camera waiting for that perfect shot and with that same keen eye and steady hand seldom loss at a game of pool or billiards and on occasion without hesitation would with others engage in a spirited round of singing.
Murray was a unique man who lived life to the full and who followed his own star, wherever it led.
We would like to thank Dr. Gay and the other doctors and nurses that provided Murray the best care at the Queensway Carleton Hospital where he spent an extended period of time after surgery and gratitude to the palliative team and caregivers who attended him daily at home in a most caring and professional manner.
If desired memorial donations may be made to a community charity of your choice.
