Having just come across the sad news of the passing of Lise, I would like to extend my condolences to her family and especially to Brian who we got to know through your unselfish work on behalf of local children with the Forest Park Optimists. Whether organizing a much appreciated youth soccer program, contributing to student's lives at Cambridge PS, holding bicycle safety training, and running the annual Christmas food drive, Lise has touched our lives and the lives of so many of our neighbours. A heart so large is such a rare gift and our family has been blessed to be a recipient of her generosity.

Jerry and I were so very sorry to hear about Lise's passing. Brian, you have our deepest sympathies.
Lise was a gentle soul who gave of herself easily and who always saw the best in everyone. The world is a better place for her having been here and we are grateful for having had the opportunity to call her our friend.

Brian, the Bramalls and Lise's Family.
Our hearts go out to you all at this sad time. We knew Lise for many years and I would have to say she was "one of a kind". In reading the other condolences Lise and Brian's kindess and generosity is mentioned in most and how Lise was a "mother hen". She was a member of a Red Hat group and she will certainly be missed by the ladies in the group as well. She always had a big smile and always contributed to our outings. Lise has left a big hole in the lives of everyone she knew.

In preparing for my farewell address to Lise, and in helping out a colleague with an article about Lise (within NRC - the National Research Council), I was looking a pictures I had acquired over the years, including many at Lise's 50th work anniversary and retirement. I was inspired to post a few pictures here, to show some of the various "families" Lise had nurtured at NRC (I added a Red Hat Ladies picture as a "bonus"). It was hard to chose which to post!
A little walk through "memory lane".

So saddened to hear of Lise’s passing. Our entire family all were the recipients of Lise and Brian’s many kindnesses. Lloyd has wonderful memories of all the years he worked alongside Lise with the Forest Park Optimists and I enjoyed her friendship for many years as well. Although we moved to Stratford a number of years ago, we kept in touch and not a Christmas went by without a lovely card or stories of her family members in a phone call. You will be sorely missed my dear Lise and our condolences go out to you Brian and all of your families!! ❤️❤️❤️

I was deeply shocked and very saddened to hear of Lise's passing. She took care of me from 1974 to 1994 at the National Research Council of Canada. I never had to worry about maintaining my workstation. She served an amazing 50 years in computer/IT support. I vowed that I would not miss her retirement party. Claude Cantin kept me informed.

Over The Fence - Through A Neighbour's Eyes
It's late in the day and the storm has just passed through. The phone rings. It's Lise. "Just calling to see if you folks are ok. Our power went out, so I guess yours did too." It was vintage Lise, looking out for others. Over the course of almost forty years, we had become familiar neighbours and watching out for one another was a code that Lise adhered to. She would end the call with the familiar "Let us know if you need anything."
Country folk are a little different. Modern 4X4 pickup trucks, the Internet and smart phones have changed the world, but don't tell that story to the people who work the earth and have stewardship of the ploughed fields and old stands of white pine and red maples. They don't entirely buy it. Lise knew the real story and it was still about hard work, long days, no complaining and a generous outlook.
Perhaps the notion stems from the passed down rural histories where rutted dirt roads, party line telephones and long distances to medical help were a fact of life. Somewhere deep in our souls the memories remain. We know about the necessity of self reliance and the support of neighbours. Lise and Brian were the proof.
During those decades of looking "over the fence", Lise's familiar figure could be seen in the tractor's seat working along side Brian or "B" as she called him, in the withering heat of a summer afternoon to harvest the hay, or racing the fading light of day to maneuver the mower around her precious trees and trim the grass before darkness. In winter you could catch glimpses of her tending the feeders for her wayward chickadees, jays, and doves. They all knew where to find her.
Brian, as much as we will dearly miss Lise, we are grateful for all the times when we knew she was just a short distance away, just over the other side of the fence.
Louise & Chuck Waring

Lise and I were in the same group at NRC for close to 30 years. Lise was the "mother hen" of the group, always taking care of us. She always brought in something special at our group lunches. She made sure we celebrated milestones, adding her own special touch to them. She was able to adjust to new technologies as they emerged, and always kept close contact with clients, always going the extra mile to make sure everything was working for them. For some reason, she seemed to know everyone at NRC! :-)
As a friend, she did the same. Always smiling, always there if you needed help.
You will be missed!

That's so unfortunate. Such a lively person and always willing to help with a big smile on her face. She was the back bone of NMR facility at NRC. Everyone depended on her expertise for remote access, archiving, trouble shooting and so on. She was always there to help. Still remember stories of her mom being able to vacuum at age 100.
Great loss.

Lise was an amazing and close friend for several years. She was one of the 5 NRC Musketeers who celebrated birthdays, Christmas time get-togethers, day trips to Almonte, Perth, and wherever else we chose. She often had us in stiches with her stories and funny situations. She was always there to celebrate birthdays with wonderful surprises and absolutely sumptuous sweet treats. Unfortunately there are now only 2 of the 5 Musketeers still around and we certainly remember Margaret-Ann Gidney, Anne Daley and now our youngest member. RIP dear Lise... I'll certainly miss you big time!
