Obituary of Linda Jane Macdonell
Linda Jane Macdonell, age 74, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday July 4, 2021, after a courageous battle with dementia. She spent her last weeks in the care of her loved ones, who will continue to honour her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
She was born to Thomas and Evelyn Talbott in Ottawa, Ontario on May 21, 1947. Linda met the love of her life, Angus Macdonell, while attending a mutual friends wedding. They loved each other deeply over their 42 years of marriage. Together, they had 4 children: Sean, Kimberley (Charlie), Kristy (Angela) and Meghan (Ryan). Linda is also leaving behind her two beloved grand-children, Jaxon Orley and Avery Logan. She is preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Thomas Talbott, her sisters, Hope, Sheila, Irene (Dunnigan) and her brothers, Victor (Evelyn) and Jimmy (Sue) Talbott.
Linda will be remembered by her loved ones as a precious, loving and gentle woman whose biggest joy in life was raising her children. She enjoyed a good laugh more than anyone and instilled in her children an infectious silliness. Linda was the neighbourhood greeter, always on watch on her front step, making sure she was the first around to witness any excitement that could or should unfold. Anyone who knows her has enjoyed her trademark banana muffins and delectable sweet breads, and likely learned a thing or two about the luck of the Irish and the magic of redheads on more than one encounter. Most of all, Linda was a compassionate, empathic and uniquely connected wife, Mom, Mother-In-Law and friend. She had a sparkle in her eye that showed you just how much she loved you without having to say a word. We will miss that sparkle dearly, but trust that its reverberations will be felt for years and years to come.
Linda will be joining her beloved sisters Sheila, Hope, Irene and her mother and father as she is laid to rest at Pinecrest Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to honour her life at a small graveside ceremony on Monday, July 12th, 2021 at 11 A.M. at the Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa. If raining please dress accordingly. We would encourage you to wear a drop of colour in honour of Linda’s love for it. COVID protocols will be in place.
In lieu of flowers we kindly ask that donations be sent to the Parkdale Food Centre in honour of all families who are living with financial hardship. We would also like to thank Dr. Edirisinghe from the West End Family Care Clinic, who has been a guiding light to Linda and our family for decades.
Thank you kindly for all your love and support during this difficult time.
