Corky and family, I was saddened to hear of Paul's passing. He was my first boss when I graduated from Algonquin College. McTaggart, Adams & Martin was a great place to work, all the great times and team spirit. I am glad I have kept in touch with Paul over the years, with Christmas cards and lunches. When I worked with him all of his sports endeavours were with a vengeance. I can't remember how many times he came into the office barely able to walk but that never stopped him as I can see by all the comments. Rest in peace my friend.

My condolences to the McTaggart Family. I had the pleasure of knowing Paul when I worked in the same legal office where he practiced law. In my university days, I acted in the role of legal administrative assistant to Paul's practice on an occasional and part-time basis. Paul was a very knowledgeable lawyer and dedicated to helping his clients. I learned a lot from him about the law and about life in general. He shared many stories and jokes - it certainly made legal document preparation a lot more fun! He will always be an inspiration to myself as a legal professional and to the entire legal community.

I have had the pleasure of being one of Paul's team mate with the seniors Elderskatesmen. Paul was the Tall Gentremen of the group, a long hockey stick gave him a very long reach to steal the puck and go on a rush the other way. Rest in Peace sir Paul.
Thanks for the good games played.

It is with regret that I have learned about Paul passing.
I met Robert Paul McTaggart in 1975, when he became our legal advisor in the field of Real Estate. With the coming years our relation became more personal. Together, we skied, played tennis and squash. We had long conversation about him liking foreign languages and also we enjoyed telling (layers) jokes. Paul's life attitude was positive, pleasant and courageous.
Professionally he was an excellent lawyer who fought for his clients until the end of the case.
On my Birthday party in March 2020, Paul attended. He entertained us by signing and imitating Jerry Lewis to our great delight, even though his illness had progressed.
Louise joins me in wishing our deepest sympathy to you Corky, the family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

To Corky and family, my condolences on the passing of Paul. He was always very kind and welcoming to me. I came to Ottawa as an articling student in 1980. At the time I was looking for a group of guys to play hockey with and Paul helped me join a group at the Nepean Sportsplex. As a lawyer Paul gave me lots of good advice over the years about law and life and was really good friend. When I was on a tournament team that had to have a roster with an average age of 45 years, 75 year old Paul played with us and that allowed my 15 year old son to be on the team. Paul very graciously kept his shifts short so my son could have a good skate. A classy guy. I always enjoyed my time with him. Phil Augustine

Paul played defence with the Elder Skatesmen senior's hockey group for many years. He was inducted into the 80+ Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014. Bert Cloutier remembers Paul as "a really classy player with an extremely long stick". Mike Donoghue commented "His wry sense of humour always had me chuckling. It was an honour to have known Paul."
Paul will be deeply missed by many.

Paul was always ready to “ lend an ear “ ....just so pleasant and relaxing after a hard hour on the ice. “ Gentleman Paul “ was never into the “rough stuff” , but he was notorious as a “puck stealer “ with that long stick of his ! He was a wonderful Elder Skatesman loved by us all , An Elder “ Statesman “ too !

My deepest condolences to Corky and family. I am one of the Friday night irregulars who played hockey with Paul for so many years. He was an inspiration to all of us "younger guys" with his continued enthusiasm for the game, as well as his innumerable stories post-game about long-ago Leafs. Always positive, with a twinkle in his eye as he launched another one of his tales of Canadian sporting lore. There aren't many like him, and he will be sorely missed. I will cherish his memory.
SIncerely - Pete Marshall

My condolences to Corky and the rest of the family. A couple of years ago I had a long conversation with Paul at the Smallian Lake barbecue. He impressed me with his love of life and positive attitude even while he was dealing with health problems.

It’s with great fondness that we remember our first visit in the ‘70s at the McTaggart family cottage. Paul truly welcomed our entire family with open arms, kindness, and friendliness with his lovely smile! He later went on and provided us continuous legal support as required. It was an honour to know him and he will truly be missed. Our sincere condolences and prayers go out to the entire McTaggart family during this difficult time.

Some of my most memorable experiences as a lawyer are from my time as an articling student with Paul in the early 1980's. I'll be forever grateful for the opportunity he and his colleagues provided me. He showed Mary and I that he had a 'full service' practice when he put us in touch with Corky to help us buy our first house. Paul did everything with enthusiasm and passion. A life well lived!

We went on one of those Griswold trips to Newfoundland in 2011. We spent a few hours lost in St. John's as mom and dad insisted they knew the town and would not let us get a map. By the time we were done, we did know the place well and met a lot of nice people along the way. We will miss you, dad.

He would always show up in his grey suit to play hockey with the Elderskatesmen at Ottawa U. He was a great gentleman and at times provide someone with legal advice. Loved playing with him on defence and he will be missed. No doubt playing defence on God’s team.

He truly loved hockey and the hockey guys, I played with him for few years when I was 18 years old and I remember I was the youngest player and he was one of the oldest but he could still get the puck off of most players and he still scored more than me. Thanks Reg for the comments.
