Uncle David was an exceptionally kind and humored man. Growing up, it felt like he was at our house more than I was. In that time we had together, he taught me many life lessons in generosity, honesty, hard work, patience, and care for others. Uncle David - the chickens will also miss you. Red dog to blue leader - signing off.

I worked in the same office as Dave, at CRA. He had a kind word for everyone there, and was well-liked and respected by all.

I always looked forward to Uncle David arriving from Ottawa in his huge car. He would spoil right away taking Mich and I for a trip to the mall, or off on another adventure. Later on it would be cards, laughing and lots of stories to be told plus bringing a snack along every time.

David was always on the invitee list to the annual New Year's Eve party at our house where for many years Colleen and I set up a 3 table duplicate bridge game. Dave always brought his own brand of humour and special love of bridge bidding conventions of every description!
My sincere condolences to David's family. I will miss him.

I always looked forward to visits from Uncle David from Ottawa. I will always remember him being king of the kids! He would bring his famous Kobasa to share and he would take us on exciting adventures to places like the Toronto Zoo, mini golf, or the movies, and there would be late nights laughing, sharing stories and playing cards. Thinking of you with a smile.

My sincere condolences to David’s family and friends. As a neighbour of David’s, I was often in receipt of his kind gestures. Whether he stopped by to offer me cream, to have a chat about the lovely sunset views that evening, or to laugh about our misfortunes that this year has brought, there was always comfort in his company. I will remember David as the absolute
neighbour. Victoria Woodhouse

So many great memories I have with my uncle. From learning to throw a football and all the subsequent competitions he made up throwing the ball back and forth to the crazy pool parties the family had. I remember him taking myself and friends on drives to Dairy Queen for a sundae. - Might be why I’m lactose intolerant now.. so many sundaes. :) He was always there for us, always willing to lend a hand. You are greatly missed Uncle David.
Love and peaceful rest,
Peter

To David's family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I knew David through work and he was a wonderful colleague. We worked together at the Department of Finance in the 1980s. It was my first job after school and I was new to Ottawa. David helped me and made me feel welcome. He was always good natured and very patient – he taught me how to play squash and I am no athlete. David often spoke to me about his family. I remember how happy he was taking his nieces to the exhibition every summer. He was a very sweet man and I will miss him.
My deepest sympathy, Kei Moray

It was such a shock that I heard about the passing of my brother. Over the holidays we played hearts with his niece Lisa, her children Elizabeth and Andrew (Kamloops) and nephew Peter (Calgary) over the internet. It was a lot of fun and David was his usual competitive self. Our last face to face was last March when I visited Ottawa. He was a very caring brother and will be greatly missed. Your loving sister Diane

When I think of David, the first thing that comes to mind is how kind David was. He was always so willing to help out at the bridge club and gave me numerous rides to and from the club. I am reminded of how affectionately he would talk about Krista's dog Maggie and even her chickens. David and I played bridge together many times and we always had fun. One of my fondest memories of David was the night we played together in the Alta Vista "Turkey Night". We came absolute bottom in the rankings but if the club had handed out turkeys for the pair that had the most fun, David and I would definitely have won. Much of our enjoyment came from our mutual teasing of each other. It was all done as friends. I will truly miss David. My deepest condolences to his family.

On behalf of the AltaVista Duplicate Bridge Club I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to David's family. We were sorry and shocked to hear of his passing. He was an avid bridge player who loved to study bridge conventions and then attempt to put them into practice at the table. I have fond memories of lively discussions with him about a particular bidding sequence. On game night, he was usually one of the 1st ones to arrive, helping to set up the game and then stick around after the game to help put everything away. He also took the time to ensure that everyone had a ride home. It was not unusual for him to drive all over the city and beyond to make someone's life a little easier. He will be missed.
