Obituary of Robert (Bob) George Mornan
Born on January 1, 1946 in Sudbury, Ontario Bob passed away on December 26, 2020 at his home, at the age of 74, after a short but very courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of 50 years to Blanche. Cherished father of Charles (Chantal), Jennifer (Marc) and Cindy (Chris). He was the very proud Gramps of Eric and Ella and step-grandfather to Roch and Marc-André. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Ruth and Bob Mornan. He is survived by his siblings Alan, Beverly and Bruce. He will be fondly remembered by his in-laws Rick and Thérèse. Dad left home for university when he was 17. He graduated with high honours from Laurentian University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969. Dad retired from IBM after a dedicated career of 30 years. He did a short stint with the Treasury Board of Canada before he took to his hobbies of golfing, curling, woodworking and travelling with Mom. Dad was an expert mathematician. There was never a math problem he could not solve. He was a stickler for grammar and spelling and his favourite expression was “Think”. Dad was very proud to be Canadian. He could always be spotted wearing something bearing the Canadian flag. His greatest passion in life, aside from his family, were his planes. The Snowbirds, the fighter jets, he loved and was fascinated by them all. Soar now with the planes Dad. We will forever love and miss you with all of our hearts. Our family wishes to thank all of the kind nurses and doctors that cared for Dad from Bayshore HealthCare and in the cancer wing at 5E, General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated. As per Dad’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
