Mrs. Murphy (only in the very later years could I call her "Joyce") was the nicest, friendliest woman, with endless patience for the silly antics of myself, my brother Dave, and her son and my good friend Patrick Murphy. I'll always remember amazing times with Joyce in Ottawa and in Prince Edward Island. A one of a kind lady!

Sending our deepest condolences to all who loved Mrs. Murphy. It was always a treat to see her smiling face at Colleen and Terry's for many happy occasions over the past 20 years. I always enjoyed our conversations as one east coast girl to another. We hope that your lifetime of love and happy memories will bring you comfort. In sympathy, Lisa, Darren, James and Luke Wadden

Joyce and Dunstan would visit their cottage every summer below our house in St. Georges, PEI. We were blessed to have the Murphy's become family, they truly took myself in as one of their own. I will always cherish the memories at the cottage; cinnamon rolls after sunday church, their beautiful gardens, the peaceful waterfront and of course - cribbage and a cold beer (may have been Dunstan's doing). Joyce was a kindred soul and I would like to extend my deepest condolences to everyone in the family. Much love from PEI - Shana Morrison.

Both Joyce and Dunstan were wonderful PEI summer neighbours and I spent many hours in their company. I miss their gentle kindnesses, their ever-ready laughter, and wise counsel. Rest In Peace. -- Suzanne

Hi Sheila and family, I'm sorry to hear that your mom has passed. You have often spoken of your mom and of her independent streak. She has had a full life where she contributed greatly to her family, community and workplace. I'm glad that you had her as part of your home life in the last while. The picture I see of her is one of a strong woman, a gift I see passed on in you Sheila. Many blessings on your celebration of her life. love, Bernadette

The Lavoie family has many fond memories of backyard get togethers with Joyce, along with the Murphy family and the Bolters and the Enns on Downsview Crescent. Joyce was often the quiet centre of it all. She was a wonderful woman, and we miss her as a friend and a neighbour. We are mourning your family's loss, and wish we could attend the funeral, but I am recovering from hip surgery and cannot drive for awhile. Please know we will be there in spirit, and God bless you all.

How wonderful it would be to see Joyce at our CWL pot luck dinners. I also admired from afar when I would see her and her husband from across the pews at weekly Mass. Your room is awaiting you dear Joyce. Gloria.

Colleen and family, so sorry to hear of your Mum's passing. Your Mum was so kind to me for many summers when I needed to receive a weekly needle, she never hesitated to help me which allowed me to spend the summer on PEI.
