Obituary of Andreas Thuswaldner
Passed away peacefully at Robertson House on June 29, 2025, in his 95th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Heather Thuswaldner for 59 years. Proud and deeply loved father of Norman, Andrew (Cindy Thuswaldner), and Stephen (Luisa Thuswaldner). Cherished grandfather of Sarah, Jessie, Nicholas, Emily, Marco, Erik, and Caleb Thuswaldner, and great-grandfather of Mikaela, Rosie, Nadya, Norah, Nylah, Nehemiah, Linnea, Kamilla, Abigail, and Samuel. Predeceased by his devoted parents, Anton and Aloisia Thuswaldner. He is lovingly remembered by Karen Clifford.
Born in Laas, Austria before the Second World War, Andreas immigrated to Canada in 1954, where he met Heather and together, they built a life filled with love, family, and adventure. A man of deep intellect and many talents, Andreas held degrees in engineering and mathematics. He had an enduring passion for ideas and a gift for sharing knowledge - particularly his love of mathematics, often illustrated with enthusiasm with his clipboard or any scrap of paper he could find.
Andreas found great joy in the outdoors. He embraced every season - cross-country skiing through the Greenbelt and Gatineau Hills in winter and exploring Ontario and Quebec by canoe with Heather each summer. He was also an accomplished painter, drawn to the Impressionist style, and many of his vibrant oil-on-canvas works hang proudly in the homes of his family.
Andreas lived a full and meaningful life, and his quiet wisdom, curiosity, and creativity will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
