Obituary of Jeannette Catherine Wright (nee Girotte)

Jeannette passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the age of 94. Jimmy, her husband of 73 years, whom she referred to as “the love of her life,” passed in 2022. Born in Ottawa, Jan was predeceased by her parents, Domenic and Melina; her sister, Joan; her brothers, Anthony and Oral; and her sons, Mark and Vincent.

She will be remembered by her family, including James (son), Kate (daughter-in-law), Jordan (grandson), and Mackenzie (great-granddaughter), as well as her extended family in Ottawa and her husband’s family on Vancouver Island.

Jan was a homemaker during the many years of her husband’s travels as an RCAF corporal and camera operator. Once stationed back in Canada, Jan joined the public school system and took on various roles in guidance, library, and clerical services. She loved to organize and celebrate family milestones such as anniversaries, birthdays, and reunions.

A heartfelt thanks to the staff of Peter D. Clark LTC, especially those working in Maple House. Thank you for your excellent care. You offered Jan great care in a loving atmosphere.

Family and friends are invited to visit the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Inurnment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Mission or The Ottawa Food Bank would be appreciated.
