Obituary of Courtney Ann Dear

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Courtney Ann Dear.  Courtney was born in Toronto at St. Michael's Hospital on March 9th, 1975.  Courtney passed away peacefully at The Ottawa Hospital on Jun 28, 2025, with family at her side.

Courtney was a loving and most giving daughter, wife, mother, and friend.  She had a radiant smile.  She was always eager to lend a helping hand to friends and family in need.

Courtney was predeceased by her loving father, Melvin Dear, grandparents, Retha and Arthur Skinner; Mildred and Harold Dear.

Courtney is survived by her mother Eveline Dear, husband Andrew Xuan, and daughter Sophia Xuan, many uncles, aunts, cousins, and a long list of friends.

Courtney graduated from University of Toronto and went on to study and work with children with autism for a time.

Courtney's kindness, love, and compassion made an indelible impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Her greatest joy was being a mother to Sophia.

May Courtney rest in peace.  Her memory will be cherished forever in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jul 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Highland Park Cemetery, 2037 McGee Side Rd, Carp, ON K0A 1L0.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Courtney's memory.
