Obituary of Khandu Patel
In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Father
KHANDU CHHANA (KC) PATEL
Born: 09 SEPTEMBER 1942 Passed On: 15 JUNE 2025
"Here comes the sun… and with it, peace."
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Khandu Patel, on Sunday, June 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of his children.
Born to the late Chhanabhai Patel and Bhaniben Patel in Moti Pethan, Gujarat, he began a new life in the 1960s in England with his cherished sisters Late Naniben (Ukabhai) Patel and Lalitaben (Chimanbhai) Patel. He treasured his life in England, where he grew into the warm and charismatic man we all loved. His nieces and nephews were like his own children, and every moment he spent with them was precious to him. During this time, he found great joy and comfort in listening to The Beatles, a soundtrack to his youth that stayed with him throughout his life. Later, in the 1970s, he built a new home in Canada. While still building a life for his own family, he generously helped over 100 family members and friends to come to Canada, offering them the opportunity to start anew.
He dedicated over 30 years of service to the Government of Canada, taking great pride in his role as a public servant. He retired from the Canadian Centre for Mineral and Energy Technology (CANMET), where he contributed to important research and development initiatives, including energy science and technology solutions aimed at benefiting the environment.
He was a man of unwavering ambition, boundless joy, and deep love, a devoted husband to his late wife, Darshana Patel, a caring and guiding father to his son, Darpan (Dina) Patel, and daughter, Nilam (Shaun) Lamba. Above all, he was a proud and loving grandfather whose heart was truly warmed by his precious grandchildren, Jiya, Jaison, Devin, and Dia, each of whom brought light and laughter into his life.
Since the passing of his beloved wife, Darshana, he carried her absence with quiet strength and deep love, always holding onto the hope of being reunited with her once again. Now, their souls have come together in eternal peace and harmony. We feel his calm and joy and find comfort knowing they are side by side, hand in hand, beyond this life.
Leaving behind his dear friend and brother, Naranbhai C. Patel, he has now joined his beloved brother, Sukhabhai C. Patel, and his loving parents, Chhanabhai and Bhaniben Patel. His spirit rests peacefully, surrounded by the love of family and those who went before him.
“The soul is not born, nor does it ever die. It simply passes,
from this night into eternal light.” — Bhagavad Gita
“Here comes the sun, and I say, it’s all right.” — The Beatles
We love you, Dad. Your legacy, your laughter, and your love will remain with us, always shining like the morning sun.
Om Shanti Shanti Shantiḥ
