Obituary of Douglas Harvey Torrance

Douglas Harvey Torrance entered his heavenly home on May 21, 2025 at the age of 71. Cherished husband of the late Rev. Polly Marks Torrance. Dear son of the late John Torrance Sr. and the late Violet Torrance. And son in law to the late Clem and Marion Marks. Loving brother of John Torrance (Nancy) and brother in law to Marg (the late Rev. Dave Gingrich), the late Rod Marks (Donna) Jan (Bill Cassidy). Special uncle to Graham (Amber Torrance) Andrew (Erin Torrance) and the late Christine Torrance. Michelle (Raph Srawley) Melissa (Brent Ward) Meghan (Howie Black) Kailee (Brad Trepanier) Brodie Marks, Kristy (Ben Counsell) Lindsay (Ben Carter). Doug made many wonderful memories to 23 great niece’s and nephews. He was also a devoted and loyal friend to many.

 

It was Ken Grant who got him involved with the Jerry Lewis telethons that raised money for Muscular Dystrophy. For many years it was the highlight of his summer. Doug also hosted a radio gospel music program on CKCU at Carleton University and CHRI. He loved working at Christian Horizons.

 

After meeting the love of his life …POLLY they were so happy to be in ministry together. The Marks family is forever grateful for the care and devotion Doug showed Polly during her life.

 

The family invites you to a celebration of life Wednesday May 28th at 11 a.m. at Bethel Pentecostal Church Ottawa, Ontario. For those who wish to attend virtually, follow this link.  Service Link .  There will be a visitation at 10 prior to the service. A reception to follow.

 

Those wishing may make a memorial donation to “Passion 4 Presence”a ministry close to Doug’s heart that’s lead by Mark Smallwood or a charity of your choice.
