Obituary of Regina Anna Parato
With her family by her side, it is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Regina Anna Parato. Born October 22, 1938 in Graz Austria, she was the first child of Karl and Christina Strudl. Surviving WWII, she graduated from college in Graz as a bookkeeper. She immigrated to Canada in 1964 where she met her late husband Giuseppe Parato. They married and settled in Toronto and had three children. The family moved to Ottawa in 1974 where she created a loving and warm, sometimes loud family home.
Regina was an active, decorated member of the Austrian Society of Canada. She was an incredible cook, loved gardening and travelled extensively across Europe as attested to by the stamps in her passport (its full). She learned numerous languages along the way.
She is survived by her three sons Cid (Jennifer), Karl (Josee), Patrick (Luisa) and 7 grandchildren Ally, Christina, Luca, Jakob, Norah, Mia and Paolo and her most favourite granddog Toby. She loved spending quality time with her grandchildren and was a loyal and fierce friend. She will be lovingly remembered as a woman who told it like it is but always with a smile.
The family would like to thank Thorncliffe Place staff for their care of Regina.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 16th from 1:00pm - 3:30pm at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Rd. Ottawa, with a service to follow.
