Obituary of Christa Wagner
Loving mother to Rolf Wagner. Cherished sister to Elisabeth Meurer and Monika Pye. Predeceased by her parents Roman and Rose Wagner.
Christa was born in Herzberg, Germany, and she grew up in Australia after the family migrated there in 1953. They moved to Ballarat, Victoria, where the father found employment and the three girls were educated. The sisters were only a year apart in age and were therefore always very close.
Christa was anxious to see more of the world, and at age 20 she left for Germany where she worked as a secretary at the Australian Embassy in Bonn. In later years she moved to Paris, France where her son Rolf was born and where she also worked for the Australian Embassy.
In 1977 Christa migrated to Canada with Rolf and worked for many years at the Standards Council in Ottawa. She loved Canada, and settled in quickly thanks to the many close friends she made after she arrived in the country. In 1980 she became a Canadian citizen.
Her sister Monika lives in Australia and her other sister Elizabeth lives in Germany.
Although the three sisters were separated by vast distances in their adult lives, they kept in touch through letters, emails, and regular phone calls.
Christa loved reading books and liked to read the local obituaries, saying they often gave her an insight into other people's interesting lives. She was very outgoing and had many friends in a number of countries. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Friends are invited to Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 1pm with a reception to follow.
