Obituary of Fran Black

In loving memory of Wilma Frances Black. Fran passed away in the early hours of May 13, 2026, at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her parents Julian and Alice (nee Weir) Robins. 

She will be deeply missed by her only son Fred (Simone) along with her granddaughters Melissa and Stephanie. She is survived by her siblings Ann, Louise, Enid, Fr. Bill and Joie, as well as many nieces and nephews who were touched by her caring nature.

She was a special mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to those she provided with strength and support throughout her life. She worked as an accountant and office manager for over twenty years, where she thrived in keeping herself and others organized. She always enjoyed a good conversation while spending time with her family and friends and otherwise kept herself busy with her favourite hobbies of knitting and sewing. Her family, especially her granddaughters meant the world to her, and she was always a big part of their lives.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, the Prince of Wales Manor and the Barrhaven Manor for their care and support over the last few years.
 

A Celebration of Life reception will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Pinecrest Cemetery: 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Dementia Society of Ottawa.
