Obituary of Earl Ralph Carr
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Earl Carr on Saturday April 25th, 2026 at Orchard View Gardens in Almonte, with family by his side. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia (Pat) (nee Robins). He will be deeply missed by his daughters Kim (D.A.MacMillan) and Kerry (Rick Schmaltz). Affectionately known as "Gramps" to Kristi, Karley, Ryan (Lisa), Kaitlyn, and Jordan (Shelby). He will also be missed by his step grandchildren. Proud, loving, and fun "Great Grandpa" to Trent, Kira, Nash and Lanie. Dear brother of the late Doris Mains (late Gordon) and the late Donald (late Colleen). He is survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.
Earl loved his profession as an electrician and was able to build this passion into a successful business with his wife Pat. They started Earl Carr Electric in 1978 and never looked back. The Ottawa Electrical community benefited from Earl's knowledge and guidance through his participation on the Electrical Contractors Association of Ottawa Board as both a member and a chairman.
Another passion of Earl's was Clayton Lake. After purchasing the lakefront property in 1975, Earl and Pat started with a Viceroy cottage which they later turned into a beautiful home where they welcomed family and friends. They always had a new project underway. Earl volunteered extensively with the Clayton Lakelands Community Association serving on the board for many years and was instrumental in making sure the annual corn roast continued as a valued community tradition.
Throughout their lives, Earl and Pat enjoyed many years of travelling. In 2006 they purchased a villa at the "Village des Pins" community in Sarasota, Florida. Every October they would "PAKUPNGO" (as their license plate so aptly says) and they made the trip to winter in Florida. Known for their love of entertaining, Earl and Pat became involved in assisting with many of the social events that were held over the years. Earl also joined the Board of Directors of "Village des Pins" and played a role in improving the community through sharing his knowledge and experience.
After Pat passed in 2019, Earl became involved as a volunteer with the Almonte Civitan Club. He was an enthusiastic and proud member of the club right up to his last few months.
A special thank you to Dr. Laura Santos, and the entire team at Orchard View Gardens for the exceptional care they provided during his stay as well as in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Earl's life at Cole Funeral Services and Pinecrest Remembrance, 2500 Baseline Road, on Friday May 8th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A private family funeral will take place on Saturday May 9th. Internment Pinecrest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Almonte General Hospital Foundation, or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
