Obituary of Peter Koutsovasilis

It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our beloved father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and dear friend. Peter passed away suddenly on Friday, April 10, 2026 at the age of 67 years surrounded by family. He was the beloved son of the late John and Adamandia Koutsovasilis. Cherished father of daughters Alexandra (Jon) and Christina (Antonio), brother of Mike (Marie), and uncle to Adamandia.

Peter lived a storied life with many chapters. He was curious, creative, had a deep love for animals and for others around him. He found joy in reading and writing, expressing himself through poems and short stories, and was a natural storyteller who could captivate those around him. Through his writing, he connected with people across the world, forming meaningful friendships that extended far beyond his immediate circle. He had a deep appreciation for music and was an avid fan of movies and television, always eager to share a recommendation or debate a memorable scene. He spoke his mind openly, especially about the issues he believed in, and while he could be passionate at times, it was always rooted in sincerity. He had a remarkable ability to strike up conversations and make friends wherever he went, quickly connecting with others. He also found great pleasure in cooking, sharing recipes, and hosting gatherings that brought people together. For many years, he devoted himself to caring for his family and others in need, never seeing it as an obligation, but simply as being human and something you do for those you love.

To pay respects, please join us at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1315 Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa, on Friday, April 17 at 12noon. Funeral Service will take place on the same day at 1pm. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hellenic Community of Ottawa.
