Barry Hughes

Obituary of Barry Lawrence Hughes

Passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026. Proud and Loving father of Steven Hughes (Holly Hughes). Cherished ‘Papa Bear’ by his grandchildren Harlow & Rowan Hughes. Dear brother of Colleen Csori and Bryan Hughes. Loving Partner of Louise Ring, and he also had a special place in the life of Louise’s daughter Shauna. Adored Uncle to Christie Frappier, Courtney Drevniok, Bryan Wesley Hughes, Josh Csori.

A true legend of the game, Barry made his mark in touch football with skill, passion, and a fearless spirit that earned him the nickname “Gunslinger.” His dedication to the sport was recognized with his induction into the ONTFL Hall of Fame in 2012—a moment of pride not only for Barry, but for all who had the privilege of playing alongside him or cheering him on.

Barry loved karaoke and never missed a chance to grab a microphone and entertain a crowd with Mack the Knife. His passion for collecting records spoke to his appreciation for music and nostalgia, while his enthusiasm for TikTok showed his willingness to embrace new ways of connecting and having fun.

He wore many hats throughout his life: a skilled lottery machine technician, a DJ who could bring any room to life, and an “unpaid comedian” whose humor brightened even the dullest days. In the kitchen, Barry was both a proud maker and enthusiastic eater of pasta and meatballs, sharing meals that were as comforting and generous as he was.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sean Pierre and Dr. Tara Jennings, and Nurse Morgan Mulligan for their care and compassion.
