Obituary of Lars Jorgensen
With loving sorrow, the Jorgensen family announces the passing of Lars Jorgensen on March 14, 2026, at the age of 73.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and a friend to many, Lars passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by loved ones and under the compassionate care of the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice.
Born in Germany in 1952 to Edith (née Riemann) and Leif Jorgensen, Lars spent his early childhood in Denmark before immigrating to Canada at the age of five. Though Canada quickly became home, Denmark always held a special place in his heart and he treasured the many visits and lifelong relationships with family there.
Lars grew up in Aylmer, Quebec, where he developed a love of art, attended high school, formed lifelong friendships and began raising his family. From humble beginnings at home, he helped found Jorgensen Roofing and, alongside family and friends, grew the business through dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence in their craft. Lars worked in roofing for more than 55 years, passing on the values of hard work, integrity and commitment to those around him.
To those who knew him best, Lars was far more than a hardworking man; he was the heart and foundation of his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda, whom he affectionately called his “Earth Angel.” This coming May marks their 50th wedding anniversary, a special milestone he will now celebrate from Heaven. Their love was the cornerstone of the family they built and a lasting example of devotion.
His sons – Niels, Kirk, Leif, and Erik – often said they won the lottery in life with Lars as their father. He was their inspiration, leader, and hero. They shared countless memories: hunting and fishing trips, nights at Capital City Speedway, summers at cottages, Friday evenings at Christian Service Brigade (CSB), long drives to hockey arenas, and working side by side with their dad on many roofing jobs. Quiet evenings by the fire watching Hockey Night in Canada were just as treasured. His boys will carry forward the lessons of hard work, faith, love, and determination, which he deeply instilled in them. Their wives, Shannon, Karla, Crystal, and Dana, loved Lars dearly and always considered him a second father.
Lars was also an incredibly proud and devoted grandfather – “Farfar” in Danish – to his seven cherished grandchildren: Joshua, Lucas, Jayden, Milena, Valeska, Alena, and Sage. In recent years, his greatest joy was spending time with them: holding them close, cheering them on at their hockey games, or taking them fishing.
He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Edith, whose steadfast love for her son has never wavered, and who holds close the promise that they will one day be reunited in Heaven. His siblings, Eike (Gayle), Mary-Ann (John), Caroline (Nigel), Dan (Brenda), and Madeleine (Bob), grieve the loss of a dear cherished brother. Together they shared a lifetime of memories, treasured trips, family gatherings, and countless Christmas holidays filled with laughter, stories, and time spent together.
“Uncle Lars” held a special place in the lives of his cherished nieces and nephews, though to many he was far more than that: a trusted guide, a source of warmth and encouragement, and someone who made each one of them feel deeply loved.
Outside of his work and family, Lars lived life to the fullest. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, ice fishing, and enjoyed many adventures with family and friends in boats, campers, and ATVs.
Lars had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome. Whether a lifelong friend or someone he had just met, he greeted everyone with warmth, a big hug, and a genuine interest. For decades he faithfully served as an usher at the Metropolitan Bible Church, tending to others with a warm smile, an open heart, and always ready with candy in hand to offer. His kindness, loyalty and joyful spirit made people feel truly valued.
Though his strong and joyful presence is missed, his legacy lives on through the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the faith that guided him throughout his life. Lars’ faith in Jesus Christ – his hope and foundation – has carried him into the promise of eternal life. What feels like an ending to us is, for him, the beginning of a new chapter in the presence of the Lord he loved.
“In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
