Robert (Bob) Wilson

Obituary of Robert (Bob) Wilson

Robert Wilson (Bob) peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on February 19, 2026 in Ottawa, Ontario.  He is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Brenda (Mike), son Barry (Jennifer) and grandchildren Taylor and Colin. Bob is also survived by his younger sister Isobel.

Bob lived a long and full life leaving behind a legacy of family, friends, laughter, imparting his wisdom and extending a helping hand to others.

A man of practicality and common sense, he never passed on an opportunity to express his opinion nor helping out others who may be a little down on their luck.

Born in Asphodel Township, Bob grew up during the Great Depression with five brothers and sisters on the family farm and quickly learned the irreplaceable value of the family bond, hard work, loyalty, honesty and making every dollar earned spent wisely.  He never strayed from those early life lessons and certainly passed them on to others who encountered him.

As a young man, Bob started his lifelong career with Bell Canada as a telephone lineman and as the years passed, rose through the ranks to becoming a supervising auditor with both Bell Canada and its international company in the Middle East.

Bob was a natural athlete who could literally play any sport but excelled at baseball and hockey,.  Throughout his travels, he played for many small town and city teams, and later used his acquired knowledge and natural skills to coach minor baseball.

Upon retirement, Bob played golf often and as most golfers do, said he routinely played at least par or a little above!  He definitely loved the game but the sign that greeted everyone who entered his home spoke loud and clear as to where he really stood and his appreciation and true loyalty, “An old golfer lives here….with the best score of his life”.

Bob may be gone and will be missed by all who knew him, however his memory and the many contributions he made will always live on.

Donations in Bob's name can be made to The Ottawa Mission and/or The Canadian Cancer Society.
