Obituary of Garry Vernon Neil Griffith
After a brief illness, Dad passed away peacefully at the Civic Hospital on February 18, 2026. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Karen (Mike), his son Steve (Kate), his grandchildren Ryan (Courtney), Bruno, Paige, and Zech, and his great‑grandchildren Hazel and Archer. He is also survived by his brother Keith (Renée). Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Helen (née Cathcart), his sister Donna McBride, and his parents, Wilton and Jean (née Stevenson).
Dad enjoyed a long career with Forestry Canada, where he developed a deep and lasting appreciation for trees and the natural world. His work gave him the opportunity to explore the Canadian North, and he cherished sharing stories of his adventures in the Northwest Territories with family and friends.
In retirement, Dad devoted himself to researching our family history, connecting with many newfound “cousins” online. He also took great pleasure in reconnecting with former colleagues and friends. Our family is grateful to the staff at Robertson House for the kind and attentive care they provided over the past year, and to the many medical professionals who supported Dad in recent years. We would also like to acknowledge the thoughtful visits from Marcel and Ian, which meant so much to him.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to Dad’s comfort and well‑being. His gentle presence and steady love will be deeply missed.
A visitation will beheld at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road on Monday, February 23rd, 2026 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM.
