Obituary of Erzsébet Erdélyi

Erzsébet Erdélyi, age 101, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Granite Ridge Retirement Home in Stittsville, Ontario.

She was born on November 27, 1924, in Lazi, Hungary, to Ágnes (née Füredi) and József Kletner. In 1947, she married Mihály Erdélyi (deceased 1996) and together they raised two children, Michael and Anna (Garcia).

In November 1956, the family fled Hungary and that December they settled in the Ottawa area. Together they built a full and meaningful life.

She is survived by her sister, Teréz Polgár (née Füredi); her children, Michael (Glenda) and Anna (Angel) Garcia; her grandchildren, Michael (Jacolyn deceased 2022) Garcia, Margarita “Chiqui” Garcia, Derek (Tifany) Erdélyi, Kristin (J.R.) Rego, and David Erdélyi; and her great-grandchildren, Rowan Artelle Garcia, Teresa Artelle Garcia, Ethan Artelle Garcia, Taylor Garcia, Cameron Garcia, Jerry Rego, Christopher Erdélyi, Charles Rego, Logan Erdélyi, and Kayley Rego. 

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her extraordinary life at Pinecrest Remembrance Services, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, Ontario, K2C 3H9, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be to the charity of your choice in her Memory.
