Santosh Kumari Sachdeva

1934 – 2026

Ottawa, Canada

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Santosh Kumari Sachdeva on 6th January, 2026, aged 91. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family.   

Born in Kenya, she was the beloved daughter of Munshi Ram Thakur and Laxmi Devi.  After marriage in 1956, she lived all and raised her family in Kenya with her beloved husband before moving to Canada in 1987, first living in Mississauga and then calling Ottawa her home for the past 20 years. 

Predeceased by her husband Justice Surrinder Sachdeva, she is survived by her children, Neena, Ashit, Reena, and Sharmila. She was beloved "Auntyji" to extended family, Bobbie, Rajiv, Gurpreet in Ottawa, Nandini and Anshula in Toronto, Rishi and Pooja, in Hydrabad, and "great-grandmother" to Rishabh and Dario.

She will be remembered for her inner light, warmth, kindness, laughter, feistiness, cooking, gardening and resilience against all the odds. Her love, support and blessings shaped us, and remain forever in our hearts.

- Memorial services, including puja and last rites, will be held at Pinecrest and Cole Funeral Services, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, on Jan 10th at 11:00 am, followed by cremation at12:00 pm.

- Prayers will be held at Vishva Shakti Durga Mandir, located at 55 Clarey Avenue, on Jan 16th at 5:00 pm, followed by dinner at 6:15 pm.

- A havan and celebration of life will be held at the Arya Samaj in Markham, Toronto in the spring: date to be announced. 

- In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to tree planting. Online condolences may be made at colefuneralservices.com.
