Wojciech Lypko

Obituary of Wojciech Frank Lypko

Wojciech Frank Lypko passed away quietly on January 4th, 2026 in Ottawa, Canada, shortly after celebrating his 83rd birthday. He was born on December 24, 1942, to Feliks and Władysława Lypko in Krakow, Poland.

A man of the world, living across Europe, North America and Africa. Frank loved the challenge of fixing, discovering and being creative.  Friends and colleagues knew him as persistent, stubborn, and extremely strong (both physically and mentally). His passion for the outdoors and nature was only surpassed by the love for his family.

Frank is survived by his loving and devoted wife Christine.  His memory will be treasured by his children Peter (Gosia) Lypko, Joanna (Scott) Hughes and Caroline (late Jonathan) McPherson.  He enjoyed the company and achievements of his grandchildren Sara, Eva, Ross, Ethan and Nicholas. He will be deeply missed by all his family in Poland including his brother Andrzej (Małgorzata), niece Magda, and nephew Mikołaj.

The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday January 11th at 11am (in the small chapel at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, Ontario).  A modest reception will follow in the adjoining solarium.  A private cremation and interment will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice to thank them for their excellent care of Frank and his family.  https://give-can.keela.co/HCO-in-memory-in-honour

For those who are unable to travel the long distances, streaming of the services will be available.  Please email the family directly for a private link.
