Obituary of Derek George Gregory

It is with heavy hearts we share that Derek George Gregory passed peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, December 27th, 2025 at the age of 86. Derek is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janice (nee Cowick), and his daughters Adrienne Oliver and Alexandra Taylor (Shawn). A special Papa to Devyn, Jayden, Lauren and Ethan, he was deeply proud of his grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Bill (Diane), Olive, and Ken (Heather), as well as many extended family members and dear friends. He is predeceased by his parents William and Elizabeth Gregory of Dublin, Ireland, and his sister Isabel Lyle (Jim). Derek came to Canada from Dublin, Ireland, at the age of 20. He completed his Bachelor’s degree at Carleton University. He then worked for many years at both Computing Devices and the Federal Government. After retirement, he enrolled in a bartending course and in true Irish fashion, happily put those skills to use at Centerpointe Theatre. He had a passion for running and completed many 10k runs in his earlier years. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Queensway Carleton Hospital. Derek was the kindest, gentlest soul and most devoted husband, father and papa. He will be missed more than words can express. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many special friends who offered unconditional help and support during the last several weeks. Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 7th, 2026 from 2-4pm at the Pinecrest Visitation Center, 2500 Baseline Road. A service to follow in the chapel.
